MAY 2008 - Buddy Guy is being honored with the first ever Great Performer of Illinois Award on July 20, 2008! Jimmie Vaughan and his Tilt a Whirl Band will be on hand to salute Buddy in a free concert at the Jay Pritzker Pavillion in Millennium Park. Festivities begin at 8:00 PM.

“We are presenting the first Great Performer of Illinois award to a blues giant who has had a world-wide impact on music and culture and brought international attention to Chicago as the home of the blues, ” says Lois Weisberg, Commissioner, Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs in a press release. “It is fitting that he is being honored at a festival that brings together the best talent in the state because he is one of the all-time greats.”

APRIL 2008 - Buddy Guy makes a highly-praised appearance with the Rolling Stones in the Martin Scorsese documentary “Shine a Light”, which is being released nation-wide Friday, April 4th. If you’re in town, you can check out the film at the IMAX theater at Navy Pier! Tickets are currently on sale and are $15 for adults, $14 for seniors and $13 for children.
